Archt Rukshan Widyalankara President CAA and re-elects
Archt Jayantha Perera as Chairman, Communications
At the 20th General Assembly of the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Archt Rukshan Widyalankara was elected as the President. He is the first Sri Lankan to be elected President of the Commonwealth Architects Association. Previously he has held positions of Vice-President, and Senior Vice President of this professional body.
At this assembly, Archt Jayantha Perera was re-elected as the Chairman Communications.
Archt Widyalankara and Archt Jayantha Perera have been Past Presidents of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects and have held the position of Chairman of Architects Registration Board (ARB) Sri Lanka.
Archt Widyalankara is the Managing Director of Rukshan Widyalankara, a company which has designed many landmark buildings including hotels, hospitals, educational establishments, transport terminals, and apartments.
Archt Perera is the Director of the architectural practice Architect Jayantha Perera. Among the many projects of note handled by the company are the Currency Museum for the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Theme Park for Leisure World Water Park and many hotels.
CAA is an officially recognised Pan Commonwealth Professional Association based in the UK as a Registered Charity affiliated to the Commonwealth Foundation. CAA is governed by the General Assembly of Member institutes of 42 countries spanning five regions viz. Africa, America, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Sri Lanka Institute of Architects is a pioneering member of CAA and has strong ties with other member institutes who share a commitment to Commonwealth’s enduring core values and principles.
