The SLIA formed two cricket teams subsequent to selection matches played at the Bandaranaike Grounds.

The two teams were captained by Archt Ranga Dayasena and Archt Buddhika Manoj Champika. The teams performed favorably at their first outing – the Cricket tournament organised by the OPA at the Bloomfield Grounds. Subsequently, the teams also participated at the ARCNET Cricket Tournament held at the Shalika Grounds. This event was organised by the University of Moratuwa and was sponsored by the SLIA.
