A professional get together in Pakistan

The 31st Council Meeting of ARCASIA (Architects Regional Council Asia) & ACA 14 (Asian Congress of Architects) & Student Jamboree was held in Lahore, Pakistan from 25th to 29th October 2010. Delegations from professional bodies of 14 member countries including Sri Lanka participated. The event received the highest level of state patronage with the participation of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Governor and the Chief Minister of Punjab.
Archt. George Kunihiro of Japan was elected President ARCASIA for 2011 and 2012 , Archt. S.N.B. Gomez was elected the Deputy Chairman Education and Archt. Nela de Zoysa was elected the Convenor ARCASIA Fellowship Committee for the same sessions.
Sri Lanka featured prominently at this event. Archt. Indika Samarasinghe and Environmentalist Dr. Ajantha Perera presented papers on invitation. Sri Lanka also received recognition when the group submission by the Students of the University of Moratuwa won the Students’ Design Competition and shared the first prize with their counterparts from Bangladesh. The Sri Lanka delegation, which was the largest from the participating countries, was led by President SLIA Chandana Edirisuriya and included Archt. Jayantha Perera as Deputy Chairman ARCASIA, Zone A and Archt. Surath Wickramasinghe as permanent advisor ARCASIA the others in the delegation were Archt. Lalith de Silva (Past President SLIA), Archt. Anil Kumarage, (Secretary PAB), Archt. Russell Dandeniya, (Chairman BAP) and 10 students of Architecture from the University of Moratuwa and the City School of Architecture.
The 32nd Council Meeting of ARCASIA and Forum 16 is scheduled to be held in Vietnam from 15th – 20th August 2011.
