The Certificate Award Ceremony of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects was held where 17, 14 and 52 students of the City School of Architecture who had successfully completed Parts I, II and III respectively of the SLIA course in Architecture received their certificates. The Chief Guest at this August ceremony was Deshamanya Archt Dr Roland Silva. The award for Best Overall Performance at SLIA Part III examination was presented to J L K V Fernando. The award for best performance at the MSc (Architecture) examination 2009 at University of Moratuwa was presented to R M S D B Amunugama and the award for best overall performance at the BArch examination 2008 at the University of Moratuwa was awarded to N P Eleperuma.

The Chief Guest in his address conveyed his best wishes to the new Architects and quoted the Roman intellectual Vitruvius who said that “neither natural ability without instruction nor instruction without natural ability can make the perfect architect” and continued that it holds true even today – 10 centuries later.
